varigated or handpainted arcrylics.... where? [Jul. 27th, 2008|11:08 am]
We are here to help!

[mood |creativecreative]

I'm making some childrens sweaters for the fall and although I love wool, I would prefer to have sweaters in the more washable blends/ arcyrlics.  So, where can I get some snazzy varigated or handpainted worsted weight & aran weight arcrylics?

Links please!!!

Acrylic has to be extruded, so it can't really be hand-painted or dyed. You could do a blend, but the acrylic wouldn't take the dye and it would have an interesting tweedy effect.

That said, Plymouth Encore makes a really nice wool/acrylic blend, and they have a line called "Colorspun" with variegated colorways. But my personal choice would be superwash wool for the perfect blend of washable and natural fibers. Lorna's Laces is a great place to look for hand paints, as is Etsy of course.
