Thank you everyone for entertaining all my newbie questions this past month. I finished my first shorties and I love them.
If I had known how quick and easy it is to knit something myself, I would have learned to knit while on maternity leave. It's been exactly a month since my first knitting class.
Anyways, my short rows need lots of work (I partially blame the directions in the Picky Pants pattern - I will be seeking out new methods for doing short rows). I made these in a medium... my model is napping ;) The yarn is Calisto from 100 Pure Wool. Next time I will do the waistband in needles two sizes smaller than the body. I used size 8 needs (circs for body, DPNs and circs for legs) for entire garment.
The gusset scared me more than anything, but I was able to shape it and kitchener it closed with no trouble. The waistband and cuffs are ribbed.
These were just finished five minutes ago, literally. They still need to be washed, blocked, and lanolized.
